CCTV Drain Camera

Why use CCTV Drain Camera?

Plunna Plumbing have undergone extensive training and experience in using the CCTV drainage camera to locate those troublesome and extra difficult drain blockages. All blockage problems are very difficult, even impossible, to find cheaply, quickly and easily without the aid of a drain camera; the only other way is to excavate the entire length of the drain, which is very costly and time consuming.

Plunna Plumbing will recommend drain camera inspection for all blocked drains to ensure the blockage is completely removed or no unnoticed damaged has occurred to prevent the drain from becoming blocked again.

It doesn’t take long for a small tree root or a slightly sagged pipe to escalate and cause all kinds of problems, and it makes repairs and clearing much simpler and easier if these problems are caught earlier rather than later, or attended to in the correct manner in the first instance. Rising damp and flooding of foundations and other essential building structures can result from ongoing blockages, so it’s essential to get these blocked drains repaired as soon as they’re discovered.

What will you be able to find by using the CCTV drain camera?

When you have a blocked drain that keeps reoccurring, the cause of a blocked drain, or location of the blockage, isn’t known, or your attending plumber suspects that there might be more going on inside your blocked drain than first thought, a CCTV drain camera inspection will be a very good idea. Every one of our licensed plumbers has been extensively trained in every aspect of blocked drains clearing, including the use of drain camera inspections.

Typically, the cause of a reoccurring blockage will be one or more of four things:

  • A cracked or broken pipe – environmental factors, such as earth compacting around a pipe, ground movements, temperature fluctuations or incorrect pipe installation can lead to cracks or breakages in the pipework, allowing debris to settle inside and prevent the water from moving through. By using a CCTV drain camera, your attending Jim’s Plumbing blocked drains professional will be able to assess precisely how bad the damage is, and make the right decision in regards to repairing the damaged pipe section.
  • Pipe sagging – the erosion of surrounding earth can cause a pipe to belly, or sag, which prevents water and any other solid materials from correctly draining through the pipeline. Jim’s Plumbing, your local expert for all your blocked drains clearing, will be able to find out exactly where and how badly a pipe is sagging, and then determine what the best course of action will be for repair.
  • Collapsed pipe – incorrect installation of drains, drains made from dated material or drains that are simply very old, can collapse completely, again, allowing surrounding dirt and rubble to enter the channel. This blocks the drain completely, causing waste and water to settle at the damaged section, and would not be assessable without either excavating the whole drain, which is very expensive, or using a CCTV drain camera to determine another course of action, which is far cheaper.
  • Tree root blockages – tree roots will naturally move towards a water source, and, if a pipe is very old or already cracked, it is extremely easy for even a miniscule hair-like tree root to infiltrate the pipe. Once inside the tree roots will soon grow to a large fibrous mass and eventually completely block or break through the pipework. By using the CCTV drain camera to assess the damage from the inside, your attending Jim’s Plumbing blocked drains expert will be able to see clearly whether the blocked drain can be cleared effectively with the use of an electric eel or high powered hydro-jet, or if the damage is too serious and the section of blocked drain needs to be replaced instead.
